Medcorder & UCSF Begin mENCORE Feasibility Clinical Trial To Help Prostate Cancer Patients With Medical Consult Recordings
By David E. Weekly in Medcorder.com
(Redwood City, CA) October 6, 2020 - Medcorder, Inc today announces that UCSF has begun its mENCORE feasibility clinical trial (mHealth ElectroNic COnsultation REcording) - to help prostate cancer patients better understand their treatment and diagnosis by using Medcorder, a free mobile app designed for patients to record, transcribe, and discuss medical consultations (NCT#04545697, www.clinicaltrials.gov).
David E. Weekly, Medcorder’s Founder & CEO, shared: “I started Medcorder after my father got prostate cancer and we saw how incredibly useful it was to record his oncology appointments and share them with family. While my father passed two years ago, we’re proud to honor his legacy by having Medcorder help other prostate cancer patients. I’m looking forward to seeing the kind of clinically-proven impact that Medcorder can have. Every patient deserves to understand their doctor.”
Dr. Daniel Kwon, a Hematology/Oncology Clinical Fellow at UCSF and the principal investigator for the study, had this to say: “Having worked with UCSF’s Patient Support Corps for several years to help cancer patients navigate their care and decision-making, we’ve seen how important recordings can be for patient comprehension, retention, and outcomes. This study will inform design of future randomized trials.”
