Helping patients make the most of their time with you
What is Medcorder?
Medcorder is a smartphone app for iOS and Android that lets patients record their medical consultations with physician consent. Recordings are stored securely in the cloud, automatically transcribed, and shared in a private chat room where patients can invite family members and caregivers.
Patients use Medcorder to review what was discussed, share instructions with loved ones who help manage their care, and prepare better questions for follow-up visits. The app is completely free for patients.
Benefits for your practice
Improves Care
When patients can re-listen to your guidance, they follow treatment recommendations more accurately. Research shows that recorded consultations improve patient adherence and health outcomes.
Improved Patient Satisfaction
Your guidance becomes a lasting resource patients can return to after the visit. Patients feel heard and supported, leading to stronger physician-patient relationships.
Reduces Your Workload
Patients who can review recordings call back less often with repeat questions. Family members get direct access to your guidance instead of relying on secondhand summaries.
Clarity for Informal Care
Family members who help with day-to-day care hear your instructions directly from the source. No more miscommunication through chains of well-meaning relatives.
Benefits for your patients
- Memory aid — Patients retain only a fraction of what they hear during appointments. Recordings let them review at their own pace.
- Eliminates the telephone game — Family members access recordings and transcripts directly, reducing miscommunication.
- Free — No cost to patients or practices. No ads. No premium tiers.
- Secure — Encrypted cloud storage with phone-number authentication and two-factor verification.
Consent, privacy, and security
Medcorder explicitly asks the patient to confirm physician consent before every recording. The consent prompt cannot be bypassed.
Medcorder is patient-directed — patients choose when to record and who to share with. Because recordings are initiated and controlled by patients for their own use, Medcorder is not covered by HIPAA. That said, we voluntarily follow security practices equivalent to HIPAA standards:
- Google Cloud-based serverless architecture with encryption in transit and at rest
- Phone-number-based authentication with two-factor verification
- Access controls that limit recording visibility to explicitly invited participants
- Third-party security auditing
- No advertising, no data sales to third parties
